Bryce: Underwater Scene

First of all, create your overall scene (don't worry about making it underwater yet):
  • Change your plane into something natural which you would find under water (i.e. sand)
  • Add a Terrain and erode it to look natural and weathered, then apply the proper texture
  • Add some items that you would find under water (i.e. anchor, fish, dolphin, etc.)
  • Import and texture your Sculptris Underwater Creature that you built last week.
  • Add a water plane and move it up above your scene to create a water surface.
  • Try different skies until you find one that looks more realistic.
  • Next, add some haze and fog and adjust the colors accordingly.
  • Finally, add a spotlight and a filter to make light ripples.

Bryce: Island Scene

Today we will be using Bryce to create a basic island.  You will need to include some of the basics here including the flat plane, the "mountain" terrain, and water.  We will also be editing the "mountain", changing textures, and adjusting the sky/environment.  I will give some specific direction for this project in class.

SET UP BRYCE:

Go to: \\JHS-LAB-M16\Users\LabSoftware
Run: br_ap003_Bryce55

What I would like from you is the following:
  • Change the texture of the first Plane
  • Add a "Mountain" (Terrain)
    • Adjust it so it sinks slightly below the Plane
    • Edit the Terrain (click the "E")
      • Adjust the shape of the mountain
      • Add some Erosion
    • Change the texture of the Terrain
  • Add a Water Plane
    • Edit the texture of the Water
  • Change the Sky
    • Be creative and adjust fog, haze, colors, etc.
Also, if you would like to view a "video tutorial", I am including one below [if you can view the video inside the schools firewall].

Flash: Animated Movie Clips / Instances

Today we are creating an animated Movie Clip. We will begin just as we did with the Graphic Symbol and the Button -- by drawing a picture and converting it to a Symbol. So draw your picture, go to MODIFY > CONVERT TO SYMBOL > MOVIE CLIP, and click OK.

Now [just as we did with the buttons] double-click your new Symbol. You can now create some sort of animation. When finished, click back on "Scene 1" to return to your stage.

You will notice that even though you have an animation, you are still on the first frame of your movie. This allows you to animate an object (a car, person, alien, etc.) and modify the size or location of the object without having to change every frame. Next we will drag out different "Instances" of your movie clip and resize, reposition, and recolor each one.
